About the artist

Vesna Longton is a professional artist who has developed an experimental technique to create 3D art using glass and resin as mediums. Vesna was born in 1974 in Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Moscow State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Fine Art in 1996. From 1992 to 1997 she pursued fine art studies at the Old School of Boris Ilyuhin and between 1996 and 1998 studied painting at the private art studio of Adronik Yakubyan. Since 2006 Vesna Longton has lived in Massachusetts, USA, where she is a freelance artist and member of the Attleboro Art Museum and the Pawtucket Art Collaborative. Throughout her career she has worked free-lance, as an art teacher, illustrator, and live event painter. Since 2019, Vesna has been developing a unique technique of layered glass and resin to create multi-faceted three-dimensional images highlighted by LED lighting effects. Vesna takes an active part in art exhibitions in the US and Russia, and her works are in private collections around the world.

ABOUT 3D GLASS and 3D RESIN ART

3D glass and resin painting is a growing trend in the art world. The founders of this method, Dustin Yellin, Jean Pierre Weill, Xia Xian Wan, Yosman Botero, Marc Scheff, and Vesna Longton use varying mediums of glass, plexiglass, or resin layered atop each other to create a three dimensional form of art. Vesna Longton works with both plexiglass and resin layering. She employs plexiglass instead of glass due to its durability and lightweight.

Each plexiglass panel or layer of resin includes one or two layers of painting, and this multilayering creates the effect of depth and a sense of movement. In addition to this layering effect, Vesna has developed her own method of incorporating LEDs into her art creating a truly unique effect. Vesna often uses a symbolistic impressionistic style with a touch of surrealism. “For me it is important to create the effect of a different reality, maybe even a different dimension, a sense of mystery, but still within the artistic approach. My art seeks to heighten the mystical and explore the possibility of other worlds. This is my way to say “Wake up! There is so much more than what we think is reality. Delve into your inner mystery!”
